Most Sydney pricing pages either show one package or send you to a form. This is the whole picture, with the sources and the date they were checked, so you can walk into a quote knowing what the number should look like.

What the Australian market charges

The most detailed public price guide is Adept Photo Booths’ 2026 Australian breakdown. These are its figures, checked on 22 September 2026, and it notes that Sydney and other major metro markets sit at the higher end of every band.

Booth typePrice (AUD)Duration
Drop-off booth, unattended$400 to $9003 hours to overnight
Open photo booth$700 to $1,2003 to 4 hours
GIF or roaming booth$900 to $2,000+3 to 5 hours
GLAM booth$1,000 to $2,000+3 to 5 hours
360 photo booth$1,100 to $2,000+3 to 4 hours
AI photo booth$1,800 to $4,000+3 hours to full day

The short version: professional hire begins around $700 and can pass $4,000 for AI booths, premium corporate activations and multi-day installations.

Why many Sydney operators do not publish prices

Plenty of Sydney companies publish no figure at all. iCanvas Booth says so outright: it does not publish fixed prices or price ranges, because availability, schedule demand, venue location and event requirements all change the quote. Checked 22 September 2026.

That is a real constraint rather than a sales tactic. It also means you cannot compare two operators without giving both the same date, the same venue and the same guest count.

What changes the price most

Duration. Longer bookings cost more in total and usually less per hour. The jump from 3 to 5 hours is rarely proportional.

Whether setup counts. This is the most common surprise. Setup and pack-down normally sit outside your booked hours, so a 3 hour booking means 3 hours of guest access, not 3 hours of the supplier being present. Ask which one you are buying.

Location. Delivery, parking, loading access and distance are frequently billed on top. A CBD venue with a loading dock and a suburban backyard are not the same job.

What a staffed photo studio costs instead

Lazuro is not a photo booth. It is a mobile photo studio: a photo stage brought to the venue with a professional photographer and an assistant working it for the whole booking, and guests collecting their photos instantly by QR code. That difference is worth stating before the prices, because it changes what you are comparing.

A $200 deposit secures the date and the remaining balance is due 3 days before the event. Four backdrops are included with no upcharge. A travel fee may apply depending on the venue.

Two details worth reading twice. Package hours are counted from your event start time rather than from when the team arrives, so you are not paying for setup: roughly an hour before and up to an hour after sits outside the booking. And the $200 deposit is strictly non-refundable, though it may move to a new date at Lazuro’s discretion, subject to availability.

Set against the table above, $450 for 3 hours sits under the $700 to $1,200 that an open booth costs for the same window, and a photographer is included rather than absent.

What to ask before you pay anything

  1. Is setup inside or outside my booked hours?
  2. Is there a travel or parking charge for my venue, and how much?
  3. Is a person operating it, or do guests run it themselves?
  4. Is the deposit refundable, and can it move to another date?
  5. What do I get on the night, and what arrives later?

Any operator worth booking answers all five in one message. If the answers arrive vague, the price is not the thing to worry about.

Frequently asked questions

How much does photo booth hire cost in Sydney?

Professional photo booth hire in Australia starts around $700 and can pass $4,000. An open photo booth runs $700 to $1,200 for 3 to 4 hours, a 360 booth $1,100 to $2,000 or more, and an AI booth $1,800 to $4,000 or more. Sydney sits at the higher end of each range because of demand and venue compliance. Figures from the Adept Photo Booths 2026 Australian pricing guide, checked 22 September 2026.

Why do so many Sydney operators not publish a price?

Several quote only on enquiry. iCanvas Booth states plainly that it does not publish fixed prices or ranges because availability, schedule demand, venue location and event requirements all affect the quote. Checked 22 September 2026. Expect to give a date and a venue before you get a number.

What does a photo booth usually not include?

Setup and pack-down are normally outside your booked hours, so a 3 hour booking is 3 hours of guest access rather than 3 hours on site. Travel can be charged separately depending on the venue. Most booths also have no photographer, although an attendant is often included.

How much does a mobile photo studio cost instead?

Lazuro charges $450 for 3 hours, $650 for 5 hours and $950 for up to 8 hours, all in AUD, with a professional photographer and an assistant on site for the whole booking. A $200 deposit secures the date and the balance is due 3 days before the event.

Is a photo booth deposit refundable?

Usually not. At Lazuro the $200 deposit is strictly non-refundable, though it may be transferred to a new date at Lazuro's discretion and subject to availability. Ask any operator this before you pay, because the answer varies and it is rarely on the pricing page.
